What:
ValU, a major Buy Now Pay Later consumer finance player owned by EFG Group, announced in an interview with Asharq Business its plans to list 20-25% of its shares on the EGX within 12 months.
So What:
Listing on the EGX will allow investors to scoop up stakes in the company, giving them exposure to the consumer finance industry. The listing would also allow the market to determine ValU’s value, which could affect experts’ valuation of its parent company, EFG.
Some Context:
ValU’s profits skyrocketed to EGP 230 million in 2023, from EGP 23 million in 2022, a 900% YoY flight. Its revenues also doubled to EGP billion.
In the interview, the Managing Director said ValU aims to increase sales on the platform by 40% this year, to reach EGP 13 billion from EGP 9.3 billion, and to increase profits to EGP 500 million.
