The Clap:
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly issued on Sunday a decree to establish and define the roles of the new economic ministerial group.
Mandate:
The group’s responsibility is to create the basic structure for economic and financial policies, encourage growth and employment, and maintain financial sustainability and economic stability, according to a statement. It will convene on a weekly basis, or as necessary, and may bring in specialists to capitalize on their knowledge.
The team:
Madbouly will lead the group, which will include Central Bank Governor Hassan Abdalla, Planning and Economic Development Minister Rania Al Mashat, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El Khatib, Supply Minister Sherif Farouk, and Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, who will serve as the group’s spokesperson.
